David specialises in the fields of Chemical and Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Oil and Gas, Clean Technologies, Photonics and Physics. David prepares and prosecutes patent applications and advises on patent validity and infringements. David holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical)(Hons.) and a Bachelor of Science (Physics) from the University of Newcastle.

Prior to entering the IP profession, David practised as an Engineer, consulting to the Iron & Steel, Oil & Gas, Mining and Chemicals industries. He has worked with multi nationals, both in Australia and abroad, as well as small Australian businesses in the development of new chemical processes. In recent years, David has focussed on the design and commissioning of process equipment to improve environmental performance of major industrial facilities.

David also has significant experience in engineering research, in both academic and commercial sectors. His experience extends to combustion and fire physics, mathematical modelling of novel processes and fundamental phenomena, and the development of novel process technologies. Common to his research endeavours is an interest in energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, an area in which he has consulted to businesses for reasons of strategy and business improvement.

David is a member of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys (IPTA), the IP Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ), and an Associate member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).
