Registered Patent Attorney
Registered Trade Mark Attorney

Edward is a Registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney and a Registered Australian Trade Mark Attorney. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Engineering (Mechanical) and a Master of Intellectual Property. While enrolled in the Master of Engineering, Edward conducted research into the adsorption properties of artificial and natural zeolites in Australia and their use in adsorption chillers.

Prior to becoming a Patent Attorney, Edward worked in Dubai as a Mechanical Engineer at BESIX, Belgium’s largest construction firm. After a brief stint in their estimation department, he worked in the on-site engineering team for the $800 million Dubai Tramway System project. In Australia, he has worked on a number of varied engineering projects, including designing HVAC systems for an engineering consultancy firm, and assessing energy performance of buildings for a building certification firm.

Edward has experience with managing large patent and design portfolios for local and international clients, particularly in the field of medical devices, computer implemented inventions, adult toys, and mining, manufacturing, construction, defense and financial technology. In addition to preparation and prosecution of patent and design applications, Edward has extensive experience with enforcement of various patent and design matters for his clients, including infringement and entitlement disputes, as well as freedom-to-operate searches and opinions. Notably, Edward was involved in the first Australian opposition to a surrender of a patent, which resulted in a favourable outcome for the client.

Edward is a member of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA), the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ), and the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA). He also serves on the Young IPTA (YIPTA) committee and the Queensland IPSANZ committee.

The Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) publication has recognised Edward as a Rising Star in 2023.
