Sophie is a Registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney specialising in physics, geophysics, and information communication technology. Sophie started her career in the intellectual property profession in 2015. She has advised local and international clients in both the private and public sectors across a wide array of industries and technologies in relation to the protection and management of patent and design rights. Sophie’s experience also includes working with both local and international clients on the patent protection of medical devices and medical imaging systems.  

Prior to her engagement in the IP profession, Sophie worked as a research officer at the Advanced Geochemical Facility, University of Western Australia, and as a PhD student at the Lunar and Planetary Institute and NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, USA. 

Sophie’s Ph.D. dissertation related to the field of geosciences and more specifically involved experimental petrology.  She is the author and co-author of several articles in international scientific publications.

Before these international experiences, Sophie grew up and studied physics, engineering, and geophysics in France. Sophie is multilingual having fluent proficiency in French, conversational proficiency in German and Spanish, and elementary proficiency in Japanese. In her spare time, Sophie enjoys running, walking, or going to the gym with her two teenage boys. She is also very passionate about music, cinema, and baking! 

Sophie is a member of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys (IPTA) and the IP Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ).
