Shu Wang

Trainee Attorney

Shu is a Trainee Attorney. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) and a Master of Engineering (Mechanical). She is nearing completion of a Master of Intellectual Property.

Prior to joining GLMR, Shu worked as an in-house Patent Engineer for four and a half years, managing one of the largest Australian IP portfolios. During her time as an in-house patent engineer, she was responsible for new and existing IP portfolio management (such as new Australian filings, Australian and foreign prosecutions), enforcement matters and IP commercialisation.

One aspect of her work that she particularly enjoys is engaging with inventors and designers about their inventions and designs, exploring how and why specific devices or mechanisms were designed in a particular way, aiming to best protect the underlying ideas and commercial outcomes. Her in-house background is particularly useful for understanding and communicating the commercial value of IP assets in terms of the value proposition of products.
