GLMR is delighted to announce the expansion of our ICT practice with the appointment of Sophie Rankenburg, a registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney. Sophie brings a unique combination of technical depth, international experience, and a passion for supporting innovation across diverse industries.
Meet Sophie
Sophie has been working on intellectual property matters since 2015 and has advised both local and international clients in the private and public sectors. Her expertise spans a wide range of technologies, with a particular focus on physics, geophysics, and information communication technology. She has also guided clients in securing protection for medical devices and imaging systems, helping innovators navigate the complexities of patent and design rights.
Before joining the IP profession, Sophie worked as a research officer at the University of Western Australia’s Advanced Geochemical Facility and pursued her PhD at the Lunar and Planetary Institute and NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Her doctoral research in experimental petrology resulted in international publications, underscoring her strong academic foundation and global perspective.
Raised and educated in France, Sophie studied physics, engineering, and geophysics before embarking on her international career.
